MonkeyBoy Turns 9!

Yes, MonkeyBoy has turned nine!  Since Dave couldn't get the day off, poor MonkeyBoy had to wait until Daddy got home to open his gifts!  Mean, aren't we?  Well he did get to wake up with one of his gifts--he chose the box from Monkey3 (his not-so-little sister's gift).  Inside, was one of his favorite things--a stuffed plush turtle, now named Gilbert!  It's actually a plush Galapagos Tortise, named after one of the ones at the San Diego Zoo...cute thing too.

Here is the birthday boy with his pile of gifts.

He received an assortment of socks, underwear and shorts (they all complain constantly of never being able to find socks etc, so they ALL get socks and underwear for birthdays!  If they'd get around to putting away the clean ones, there would be no confusion over what was clean or dirty...)

Monkey1 gave him a GI Joe badguy (Cobra)!  He was ecstatic!
I gave him more GI Joe figures, including one monster, along with a bag of assorted gear bits for them.  You can see the toys on top of the unwrapped present from Dave on the table.
And Dave gave him one of his favorite things besides stuffed turtles!  HALO Legos!  Yes, MonkeyBoy did receive a lovely HALO set from Dave.  He built it all by himself too.  It was complete by the next morning!
Now we also have a tradition that the birthday child gives their siblings a small gift also, on their birthday.  This helps prevent squabbles amongst the non-birthday children...Monkey1 received a Schleich toy cat and a horse shoe.  Monkey3 received a larger Schleich toy wolf.

Later in the evening, our good friend came over for the birthday meal of cheeseburgers and lemon cake.  The birthday child chooses the dinner meal and  this year MonkeyBoy wanted a change from the traditional chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting...he wanted a lemon cake, with yellow lemon frosting, and yellow sprinkles on it.  OooooKay....but he enjoyed it as we all did.  But I still think chocolate is better!
